A word from Kerri
A very warm welcome back to all our families, we have a very busy and exciting term ahead. It is great to see all of the children back at school, excited and ready to learn. Today you will receive a printed copy of our fridge list so that you can keep an eye on up and coming events. Check your child’s bag for this! Over the year, our newsletter will cover our strategic goals, how we teach the curriculum and address pertinent and topical issues in education. I look forward to sharing the educational journey this year and hope to see you all at the Meet the team evening.

Curriculum Review
The Ministry of Education is currently seeking public feedback on the draft curriculum for NZ Aotearoa Histories. This curriculum area is scheduled to be taught in all NZ schools from 2022 and is being designed to ensure that all learners and ākonga are taught key aspects of our country's history. Please watch this short video in the link below and then follow the link in the comments section below to have your voice heard too.
Stationery Packs
Thank you to those parents who have ordered stationery packs for their children.
If you have yet to do so it would be appreciated if this could be done by the end of this week so children are equipped to get underway with their learning next week.
Packs are ordered via Kindo, if you experience any problems or difficulties please see Linda or Liz in the school office.
Welcome to Bayfield
In Team 2 Kowhai we have welcomed Claudia Cook-Green.
Claudia returned to New Zealand at the end of last year from Australia. She loves spending time with her whanau, riding her bike and going for long leisurely walks. We are thrilled to have Claudia in the Kowhai team.
We are privileged to be a host school for the University of Auckland’s Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Teaching programme. This means that we host student teachers every Wednesday and Thursday of 2021, and for 2-5 week full time practicums.
This year we are hosting 5 teacher trainees. They are already feeling a part of our community and I know our families will make them feel welcome too.
We would also like to introduce Ngarino, who will be working with our Kapa Haka group in 2021. We feel very lucky to have Ngarino on our staff and can’t wait to see Kapa Haka grow under his guidance.
