A word from Kerri

Youths at school over the weekend

We have ongoing issues with local teenagers coming onto the school property after school and during the weekend. Sometimes, these young people appear to be drinking alcohol as we find the remains of their parties on the school grounds. We have been informed that some of these young people were on the roof of the Year 3 block and over the weekend someone threw our soccer post onto the shade sail of the Herne Bay Playcentre, causing damage to their shade sail.

I feel very frustrated and disappointed that this keeps happening and ask for the community to let us know if they see anyone doing anything unsafe or inappropriate to let us know.

We really like the fact that many families come to the school over the weekends and holidays and want people to be able to use our fabulous grounds.

In the next 12 months we will be replacing our perimeter fence, and it would be unfortunate if we had to design a fence that keeps people out of the school grounds.

Thank you for keeping your children home on Friday, we had an extremely productive day looking at writing assessment, reading assessment and analysis of our processes. Join us as we say goodbye to 2020 in style!

Enjoy a relaxed evening of great food, drink and music reminiscing on the unique year that was.

This is not a fundraiser, but a chance to be together, have some fun, and meet new people.

Bayfield Book Bonanza

Monday 2nd November to Friday 6th November

Book Fair in the library

As part of Book Bonanza we will be running a book fair in the library. Bayfield families are very generous when purchasing books for our school library.  We have selected books for people to choose in a range of prices.

All books selected will have a slip placed on the inside cover acknowledging the families who donate books. If you are unable to come to school and you would like to make a donation a voucher can be purchased on KINDO prior to the Book Bonanza and teachers will be happy to assist the children to choose the books.

Books are available to be purchased from the library from:

8.20 - 12.00am on Monday 2nd November (Grandparents Day and Special Friends Day)

8.20 - 10.50am on Friday 6th November (Book Parade Day)

We will have an eftpos machine in the library to make transactions more convenient.

Grandparents’ Day: Monday 2nd November

The Book Fair is open from 8.20am in the library. Our special grandparents’ and special friends assembly is from 9-10am in the hall. From 10-10.50am grandparents and family members can visit classrooms to read stories with the children. It is also an opportunity to view our learning spaces and the children’s work.

During this time you are welcome to visit the library with your grandchild to choose a book to donate to the library. At 10.50am there will be a grandparents’ morning tea in the hall.

Book Bonanza Dress-up Book Character Parade

Families are invited to attend the Book Bonanza dress-up parade at 9.00am on Friday, 6th November.  For the book parade children can dress up as their favourite character if they wish.

Book Poster or Book Trailer Competition

As part of our book week children have the opportunity to create a poster or a book trailer to promote their favourite book. These will be due on Monday, 2nd November. Winners will be announced at the assembly on Monday, 6th November.
