A word from Kerri
2020 has been an unbelievable year and it is so hard to believe that we have been through two lockdowns, and that term 4 is the only full school term we have completed this year.
Despite the challenges the school has managed to continue the high standard of teaching and learning we expect from our teachers and I am very proud of what the teaching staff were able to achieve during this challenging year. We must acknowledge our part time teachers, who stepped up and went over and above to support our teams and children during our lockdowns.
I want to thank the parent community for your kind words, feedback and overall support for the school, it has been outstanding. Thank you for the countless hours you have given up to support our school trips, help in the class spaces, attend events and the overwhelming generosity shown by you all to help us all through this year.
A special mention to the Board of Trustees and the BCG for their tireless efforts to improve communication, the financial position of the school and the incredible projects they have completed this year. Our new path is such a legacy and it is so lovely to see families making the most of it.
We have an incredible team that supports us all at Bayfield. Linda and Liz in the office support families, children and teachers to make it through each day. Sorting cut knees, payments, lost lunches, tears and general care, kindness and attention that makes a real difference.
Our incredible learning assistants, who work tirelessly in our team spaces and with some of our children who need extra care and attention. Their work is so valued by us all. Thank you, Leigh, Vicki, Donna, Kristie, Bridget, Jenine, Mez, Amy, Arshi, Ellen and Kim.
Bevan, Claire and Jane have also worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure that all systems, support, logistics, staff, curriculum and countless other areas are sorted and their work is appreciated by us all.
I wish you all a happy and safe holiday and look forward to starting 2021 together!
Kerri
Our end of year results snapshot
We are so pleased to see that our results so far point to the school, children and parents being able to maintain the extremely high level of academic success.
The following results are for children at or above expected level for Years 4-6.
A full and more comprehensive report of our results will be shared at our meet the team evening in February, where we can share the Year 1-3 data (these children have anniversary dates), whole school trends and our goals for 2021.
Hero Reporting
Today in Hero we will be publishing all end of year general comments for Year 4-6 all other children in Years 1-3 have anniversary date reports related to their weeks at school and so end of year comments do not relate to these children.
Staffing Updates:
Tina Biddick has resigned from her position at Bayfield School. We wish Tina all the best for the future and thank her for her dedication to the senior team, especially Tina's teaching of writing, that has supported many of our learners over the years and introducing the school to Genius Hour, which was so enjoyed by the children in her teams.
Tina has made a real impact at Bayfield and her experience and knowledge will be missed.
This change in personnel has meant we have had to make some changes to our team leadership for 2021:
Jane Sharpe will now lead Year 4
Sarah Vile will now lead Year 3
Kate Chatterley will now lead Year 2
We feel very privileged to have such a talented staff and look forward to how they will cater for our learners in 2021.
We have employed Claudia Cook-Green who will be a new teacher in Year 2 in 2021. She has over 20 years’ experience in junior schools in New Zealand and Australia. She has training in reading recovery, positive behaviour for learning and a range of literacy based programmes, which will make a real difference to our learners. We look forward to introducing her to the community in 2021.
