A word from Kerri
Welcome back to Term 3 2.0!
The children and teachers have settled back into routine and we are so pleased to be back at school. It was especially pleasing to see the Year 6’s go to camp, as this is a very important part of our children’s primary school experience, and the Year 5's have had their EOTC week activities which includes them going to Camp tomorrow!
Planning for 2021
If you have children that are turning 5 in 2021 or 2022 can you please check with Linda that they are pre-enrolled. We are holding our annual Ballot in October and in zone pre-enrolments help us to determine the number of out of zone places we can offer.
Not returning in 2021? If you have children who are currently attending Bayfield who will not be returning in 2021 would you please email Linda
Communications and online learning:
Late last term we surveyed the community on our communications and our online learning delivery. We have been delayed in sharing our overall communication plan with you all, but have started to implement aspects over this term.
You may have noticed that we have tried to reduce the frequency of communications you receive and using a centralised hub (online learning hub) to find information.
Currently we are finetuning the communications and platforms and will share our plans going forward as soon as possible.
We are planning to survey the community again - to gather some more valuable feedback on our second round of online learning. Your feedback in the last survey was invaluable and allowed us to make the significant and positive changes to our platform.
I hope you can see that we value the input of our community and do adapt and make amendments where feasible.
Event Updates:
New Fridge List:
An updated Fridge list for the last 3 weeks of the term we be emailed on Friday, so new dates and cancelled events can be noted.
A new fridge list for Term 4 is in process, so that it can be sent home in week 10 of this term.
Disco:
We will reschedule the disco for term 4. The new date will be on the Fridge List for Term 4
School Photos:
Photolife will be here on Tuesday 15 September to take class, portrait and team photos.
Inner City Sports Events:
Unfortunately both the Inner City Cross Country and the Inner City Football tournament have been cancelled.
It is not possible to reschedule the Cross Country, but we are working with our local schools to try to organise some Football matches between schools in Term 4.
At this stage, all other sports are going ahead:
Netball - Thursday 17th Sept (Nat)
Hockey in Week 1 of Term 4 - Thursday 15th Oct (Michaela)
Basketball in Week 2 - Wednesday 21st Oct (Sarah)
Basketball
An update from Harbour Competitions:
Even with the move to Level 2, the 10 person limit means that we will not be able to conduct competitions.
We are working with venues on a return to play plan whereby competitions will hopefully resume on the week commencing 7th September, a return in that week will allow for all modules to complete a full season in 2020.
Netball
Unfortunately there will be no Saturday morning Netball at Pinehurst School until we are back in level one.
Kidzplay Netball will provide an update once this date is set. In the meantime we will organise some after school games.
Please contact Natalie if your team is interested in participating. A reminder that school practices have started back up.
Hockey
The full Harbour Hockey junior competition will be able to resume once mass gatherings have been increased to 100 in Auckland. If there is an increase to 50 only the Year 5/6 Advanced grade can commence but unfortunately no other grades.
No spectators will be allowed under mass gatherings restrictions. Under the assumption that this increase will happen before Monday 7th September there are draws out for next Monday, however please be aware this may change.
Harbour Hockey is looking at multiple possibilities to carry out the season including a possible festival day on Monday 28 September. Please refer to information sent out by your managers about returning to play. It has been great to see practises starting back up and some very keen girls!
