It has been a very successful transition back and the children have all settled back into their routines. Thank you again for your support with the gate system and our contact tracing, it has certainly made the return to school more seamless. There is not much to share in this first newsletter, as we are busy settling back in and look forward to sharing the children’s work and achievements as we progress through the term. Next Friday we will have our first assembly of the term, we welcome parents to attend and will have contact tracing forms outside the hall doors. We will also make sure we have plenty of space to social distance whilst inside the hall. Term 2 2020 has had almost all of its school events cancelled or postponed till term 3. This includes all trips and sports events. This term we have one major school event, the school cross country. Later this term we will have the term 3 Fridge list ready to share with you, so you can plan accordingly. Communication and online learning review Bayfield School leadership and the Board of Trustees are undertaking a review of our current communications platforms, our online learning (during the lockdown) and our online reporting system. In the coming weeks, a survey will be sent to all parents to gather your feedback. We are looking forward to developing our communication processes and hope to find solutions that can cater for the needs of our community. BCG relaunch - Tuesday 9 June 6:45pm-7:30pm Leading up to the lock down we had started to rebuild our Bayfield Community Group (BCG) and we are wanting to restart again this term. We have another meeting planned for Tuesday 9 June 6:45pm-7:30pm in our school staffroom and look forward to seeing you there. Our BCG is similar to a PTA and we welcome our new parents to come along and learn about how the BCG supports the school. Fundraising Brainstorming- Tuesday 9 June 7:30pm-8:30pm This year we had planned on running our bi annual hammertime auction. This is the school’s major fundraiser and helps towards the $300,000 the school needs to raise each year to help with the school's operational costs. We know that it may not be possible to run a Hammertime in the way we have in the past, due to time constraints, pressure on local businesses and the potential for gathering in large numbers to continue being restricted. So we are asking for anyone in the community with ideas for fundraising to come along and share ideas. We know we have some visionary and creative minds in our community and would love to hear your thoughts. This session is to gather ideas, and there's no obligation to help organise events or be part of an organising committee, we just need some fresh ideas to help our school raise the necessary funds in this challenging climate. Value this week - Respect-Whakarangatira Our focus this week is on respect - we look forward to recognising those children who have shown respect for their school, family and environment at our first school assembly of the term. Sport All inner city dates are under review and we will let all families know when these are confirmed. Basketball, netball and hockey will all resume in Term 3. Please contact the following teachers if you have any questions about these sports. Netball - Natalie Hayes (Kowhai Team 2) Hockey - Michaela Bartholomew (Titoki Team 1) Basketball - Sarah Vile (Pohutukawa Team 3) |
