Children will be supervised by the staff who are not attending the union meeting. If you are able to or want to pick your child up at 1:30pm that day, please let Linda in the office know.   Bayfield School Newsletter - Wednesday 2nd of June Inspired Today-Prepared for Tomorrow Dates to remember Friday 4th of June - Teacher Only Day - school closed Monday 7th of June - School closed for Queen's Birthday  A word from Kerri  Mathematics at Bayfield School When we are learning to count as small children, we often learn to count to 10, 20, 100 and beyond quite quickly and little children are often very proud of their ability to count to the highest number possible.  Unfortunately most of the time numbers and counting is such an abstract concept that there is often no relationship between 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and 10 objects. You may find that when you ask a 5 year old, how many items there are they will start right back at 1 and count to 10, you ask them again and they count again, instead of saying “there are 10” This is why using their fingers, touching counters or moving objects into groups is such an important part of a child’s mathematical development....
